Alex de Minaur has finally captured his first indoor title, claiming the 2026 Rotterdam Open in commanding fashion and proving his versatility on the ATP Tour. The Australian faced one of the circuit’s toughest indoor competitors, Felix Auger-Aliassime, in the final and emerged with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in just 78 minutes.
Auger-Aliassime entered the match in remarkable form, having won eight of his nine career indoor titles and not dropping a single service game in Rotterdam. Yet de Minaur dismantled him with precision, breaking serve three times while never facing a break point. He converted three of five break opportunities and finished the match with his first ace, capping a flawless performance that left the Canadian struggling to respond.
This victory marked the culmination of a long journey for de Minaur in Rotterdam. He had reached the finals in both 2024 and 2025, falling to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz respectively, making Sunday’s triumph a case of “third time lucky.” The emotional celebration highlighted the significance of breaking his personal jinx at a tournament he clearly cherishes.
De Minaur’s road to the final was far from easy. In the quarterfinals, he overcame Botic van de Zandschulp in a three-set battle, saving match points and demonstrating resilience under pressure with a 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 win. By reaching three consecutive Rotterdam finals, he became the first player in the tournament’s 53-year history to achieve this, emphasizing his consistency and mental toughness.
The Rotterdam Open title adds a fourth ATP 500 trophy to de Minaur’s collection, joining his previous wins in Acapulco (2023, 2024) and Washington D.C. (2025). Conquering an indoor event, often dominated by big hitters, highlights his evolution as a versatile all-court player and reinforces his position among the tour’s elite.
Both de Minaur and Auger-Aliassime will take a brief break before returning to the ATP 500 circuit. De Minaur heads to Acapulco while Auger-Aliassime competes in Dubai, both carrying the momentum from a tournament that showcased their skill and determination.
