JW Johnson and his sister Jorja shone in doubles, while Anna Leigh Waters made a quick impact in her short week as the PPA Tour’s Daytona Beach Open concluded another stop at Pictona in Holly Hill.

HOLLY HILL — JW and Jorja captured gold in mixed doubles, and each also went on to claim gold in their respective men’s and women’s doubles events.

Jorja teamed up with Anna Leigh Waters, the world’s top female pickleball player, to win women’s doubles. Waters, who typically competes in all three divisions, chose to skip singles and mixed doubles this week.

Over 1,300 players, a mix of professional competitors and mostly amateur participants across different skill levels, took part in this year’s Pictona PPA Tour event. The professional tour will resume in mid-January at the Carvana Masters held at Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage, California.

Here’s a summary of Sunday’s finals at the Daytona Beach Open. Singles finals were best-of-three, while doubles finals used a best-of-five format.

Men’s Singles
 Christopher Haworth
had little trouble in the final, defeating Gabriel Joseph 11-5, 11-1.

Men’s Doubles
The closest match of Championship Sunday went the full five games. JW Johnson and Augustus Ge edged out Riley Newman and Noe Khlif 11-6, 9-11, 11-1, 6-11, 11-8 in a back-and-forth battle.

Women’s Singles
With Waters absent from singles, Catherine Parenteau, ranked seventh or better in all three divisions on the PPA Tour 2025, seized gold by defeating Katerina Stewart 11-4, 12-10.

Women’s Doubles
The top two seeds faced off in a competitive final, but Jorja Johnson and Anna Leigh Waters swept second-seeded Catherine Parenteau and Tyra Hurricane Black 11-3, 11-8, 11-5.

Mixed Doubles
The Johnson siblings showed why they were the top seed, with Jorja and JW Johnson cruising past sixth-seeded Andrei Daescu and Kaitlyn Christian 11-5, 11-1, 11-4.
