Aprilia made a powerful statement at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Goiânia, with Marco Bezzecchi delivering a dominant performance that propelled the factory team to a sensational 1-2 finish.
Bezzecchi, starting from second on the grid, overtook polesitter Fabio Di Giannantonio before the first turn and quickly established control. He set a series of fastest laps that left rivals chasing and secured his fourth consecutive win and eighth career victory, moving him to the top of the championship standings.
Jorge Martin backed up his teammate with an impressive second-place finish, showing resilience and skill as he navigated through the field. Still recovering from injury, Martin made a decisive move on Lap 6, passing both Marc Marquez and Di Giannantonio in a single maneuver to secure his best result since his 2024 championship-winning campaign.
The battle for third place was intense. Di Giannantonio and Marquez exchanged positions several times, with Marquez briefly taking the lead. A late mistake from the factory Ducati rider allowed the Italian to reclaim third on the penultimate lap, earning a hard-fought podium.
The race distance was shortened to 23 laps due to track degradation, adding another challenge for riders who had to adapt their strategies without changing tires or fuel. Mid-pack battles were equally dramatic, with Ai Ogura overtaking Alex Marquez on the final lap to claim a career-best fifth place. KTM’s Pedro Acosta showed early promise but fell to seventh as his soft rear tires lost effectiveness.
The Brazilian Grand Prix also saw notable misfortune. Four riders, including Joan Mir and Francesco Bagnaia, crashed out while running in the top ten, affecting the championship standings. Bezzecchi’s dominant performance now gives Aprilia a crucial advantage in the points race and sets the stage for an exciting remainder of the season.
