Raducanu, seeded 28th, lost 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 against 55th-ranked Potapova in Melbourne. The British number one looked flat in her mood and movement, with mistakes coming from all parts of her game.
Aside from Raducanu’s untimely exit, the tournament has seen very few shocks so far, with the big-hitters on both sides of the draw still firmly in the competition. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have both progressed into the third round, while Aryna Sabalenka has advanced without dropping a set up to this point.
