KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s hopes of landing a men’s doubles title at the Malaysia Open took a hit after Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun bowed out in the quarter-finals at Axiata Arena on Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's hopes of landing a men's doubles title at the Malaysia Open took a hit after Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun bowed out in the quarter-finals at Axiata Arena on Friday.

World No. 5 Wei Chong- Kai Wun were shown the exit following a 21-17, 21-14 defeat to world No. 1 and defending champions Seo Seung Jae-Kim Won Ho.

It was Wei Chong-Kai Wun's seventh defeat in as many meetings against the Koreans, who have now extended their unbeaten streak to 18 matches since October.

Their last loss came at the Denmark Open, where they were upset by Malaysians Tan Wee Kiong-Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub.

World No. 2 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik are due to take the court later against Indonesia's Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
