Team World has received a major boost ahead of the 2026 Laver Cup, with American star Ben Shelton confirming his return for the event in London.
The World No. 6 will make his third appearance at the team competition, which runs from September 25 to 27, 2026, at the The O2 Arena. Shelton missed the previous edition due to injury but returns as one of Team World’s key players in their bid to extend recent success in the format.
Shelton said he values the opportunity to compete alongside and learn from tennis greats while representing Team World on one of the sport’s biggest team stages.
His inclusion strengthens an already competitive lineup featuring Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur, giving Team World a powerful core heading into the event.
Team Europe, however, is also stacked with top-ranked talent, including Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, setting up another high-profile clash between the two sides.
Shelton has already built a strong Laver Cup record, including a key role in Team World’s title run in Vancouver, where he delivered unbeaten performances across singles and doubles. Known for his explosive serve and aggressive playing style, he has quickly become one of the competition’s most impactful players.
Team World captain Andre Agassi praised Shelton’s return, highlighting both his on-court ability and his energy within the team environment. Agassi also noted his long-standing connection with Shelton’s family, adding a personal layer to the partnership.
With Team World having won three of the last four editions, expectations are high once again. As the 2026 event approaches, both sides are expected to announce additional star players, setting the stage for another intense showdown in London.
