Chong Wei earns RM7.39 million on BWF all-time list [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Badminton legend Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei is ranked fifth in the BWF all-time prize money earners' list, which is currently led by women's singles An Se Young of South Korea.

Chong Wei's 20-year career span helped him win US$1,814,407.50 (RM7,398,251.64) in total prize money during a period when a champion's purse of US$240,000 (RM978,600), offered for singles champions at the current World Tour Finals, was unheard of.

The ever-increasing World Tour prize money structure has helped women's singles world No. 1 Se Young rake in a total of US$2,329,466.25 (RM9,494,405.13) so far.

The Korean is also the highest earner in the 2025 season and will become the first shuttler to break the US$1 million barrier if she wins the World Tour Finals

title by beating China's world No. 2 Wan Zhi Yi in the final in Hangzhou on Sunday.

Se Young, winner of a record 10 titles this year, has earned US$763,175 (RM3,111,562) and will cross the US$1 million mark if she adds the US$240,000 (RM978,600) champions' purse to her collection on Sunday.

World No. 1 Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea can become the most prolific men's doubles pair if they beat China's world No. 5 Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang in the WTF final to win a record 11th title this season.

The Koreans are currently level on 10 titles with three former China greats — men's doubles Li Yong Bo-Tian Bing Yi and women's doubles Ge Fei-Gu Jun and Yu Yang–Wang Xiao Li.
