DUPR announced plans to roll out AI-powered video analysis beginning in 2026, aiming to deliver deeper insights into pickleball performance and improve rating accuracy over time.
The Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) system announced a major technological step forward, revealing plans to introduce Artificial Intelligence–driven analysis starting in 2026 through the launch of DUPR AI.
As part of the initiative, DUPR will partner with leading video and hardware technology providers to unlock deeper insights into pickleball performance. Match footage will be processed through DUPR Vision, an AI-powered system designed to analyze gameplay far beyond traditional match results.
The technology will be capable of identifying key performance patterns, including shot selection and success rates, error frequency and types, targeting tendencies, consistency under pressure, and relative performance within individual matches.
Over time, the data generated by DUPR AI is expected to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how matches are played, not just how they are won or lost. DUPR said these insights could eventually be integrated responsibly into its rating ecosystem, helping refine match weighting, improve reliability, and enhance rating accuracy at scale as the data matures.
The organization described the initiative as a long-term effort to build the future of performance measurement in pickleball, with additional details to be announced in the coming months.
