MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is expected to be out for at least three weeks due to a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his left elbow.
The injury occurred during Wednesday’s 124-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The team announced the severity of the injury on Saturday and said the two-time All-Star will be re-evaluated in about three weeks.
This marks the latest setback in a difficult season for Morant, who previously missed six games with a right calf injury before returning Sunday for the Grizzlies’ 126-109 victory over the Orlando Magic in London.
Morant has appeared in just 20 of the team’s 43 games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 8.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, amid ongoing trade speculation.
