Nick Kyrgios is poised to make his first ATP Tour appearance in nearly a year with a wildcard entry at the Brisbane International, following a series of injuries that have limited his 2025 season.

Nick Kyrgios is set to play his first ATP Tour match in 10 months after receiving a wildcard for next month’s Brisbane International.

Fitness setbacks restricted the Australian to just five singles matches in 2025, with his most recent a second-round defeat to Karen Khachanov at the Miami Open in March.

Before Brisbane, Kyrgios will face women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition on 28 December, a match that has sparked debate and will be broadcast live on BBC One.

The 30-year-old will also participate in the Kooyong Classic warm-up exhibition in Melbourne in January as he gears up for a potential return to the Australian Open. Kyrgios has endured multiple serious injuries in recent years, causing his world ranking to drop to 673.

Without a protected ranking, he will also need a wildcard to compete at the first Grand Slam of 2026. The former Wimbledon finalist has played only one Grand Slam match since 2022 – a first-round loss to Britain’s Jacob Fearnley at Melbourne Park in January.
