KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's campaign at the World Tour Finals (WTF) came to an end as mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were thumped by Chinese nemeses Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin in a close last four clash today.

World No. 3 Tang Jie-Ee Wei, last year's WTF runners-up, started ferociously, but world No. 2 Zhen Bang-Ya Xin bounced back to secure a 9-21, 21-11, 21-17 win in Hangzhou.

It was a repeat of the Paris World Championships final where Tang Jie-Ee Wei overwhelmed Zhen Bang-Ya Xin in straight games (21-15, 21-14), but the roles were reversed at the season-ending WTF.

In an earlier last four clash, women's doubles world No. 2 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah also bowed out after a 21-19, 21-13 defeat to Japan's world No. 5 Mayu Matsumoto-Yuki Fukushima.

The two Malaysian pairs will have to be content with the US$60,000 (RM245,000) they earned for reaching the WTF semi-finals.
