KUALA LUMPUR: Rexy Mainaky describes South Korean Seo Seung Jae as the tactical mastermind that foiled Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik's fightback in the men's doubles final of the Malaysia Open.

The coaching director said Seung Jae made the fewest mistakes among the four players and covered his partner Kim Won Ho well in the rubber game

He played a key role in foiling Aaron-Wooi Yik who fought back from 11-4 down before eventually losing 21-15, 12-21, 21-18.

"Seung Jae was the 'mastermind' as he neutralised our challenge. It comes down to confidence and experience in tense situations, and Seung Jae made a big difference," said Rexy.

"Even in the second game, when Won Ho was under pressure and shots were flying past him, Seung Jae was steady."

Rexy also had a word of advice for mixed doubles world champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, saying they need greater emotional maturity to win big matches.

World No. 4 Tang Jie-Ee Wei were outplayed in the last eight by Hong Kong's world No. 8 Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet in three games.

"Tang Jie-Ee Wei need to manage their emotional maturity on the court. In doubles, you cannot rely too much on one person to do the job — you need each other," said Rexy.

"We saw that happen. When Ee Wei wasn't clicking, Tang Jie looked disturbed and started to lose his calm."
