Reigning Moto2 world champion Diogo Moreira finished the six-day Sepang MotoGP test with steady progress and a clear belief in the potential of Honda’s latest RC213V machine. Although Moreira is set to make his MotoGP debut after testing, he focused on learning and improvement rather than lap times.
Moreira ended the test 20th on the timesheets with a best lap of 1m 58.476s, about two seconds slower than the leader and slightly behind last year’s LCR Honda rookie benchmark. Despite that, he notably trimmed around 2.5 seconds from his pace compared with the start of testing, showing measurable progress throughout the week.
The Brazilian described the test as tiring but rewarding, with each day bringing a better feel for the RC213V. He credited the team’s support and emphasised the importance of patience as he adapts to the premier class. “We have all year to improve and learn,” Moreira said, highlighting his calm approach and long-term focus.
Moreira also expressed confidence in the RC213V’s capabilities. While he has had limited time to discuss setup with Honda’s more experienced riders, he said he believes the bike is strong and pointed to performances by riders such as Joan Mir and Luca Marini as evidence of its potential on track.
The 21-year-old now looks ahead to additional testing at Buriram later this month before his MotoGP race debut. His measured progress and positive attitude suggest a rider focused on development and ready to take on the challenges of the premier class.
