The build‑up to the new season begins with the Shakedown Test at the Sepang International Circuit from January 29 to 31. This early session gives test riders, rookies, and select manufacturers first track time after the off‑season.
The first full MotoGP team test follows shortly after, with the Sepang Test scheduled from February 3 to 5 in Malaysia. This event marks the official start of the on‑track action ahead of the season.
On February 7, MotoGP will hold its 2026 Season Launch event in Kuala Lumpur, where teams, riders, and bike lineups are revealed before the competitive calendar begins.
Teams will then travel to Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, for a final pre‑season test on February 21 and 22, the weekend immediately before the opening round of the championship.
Once the championship starts, the calendar includes four in‑season test days for MotoGP. The first two official tests take place after the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez and the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona, where riders will test with tyres supplied by manufacturer Michelin.
In addition to these, there are post‑race non‑official tests planned with the tyre supplier for 2027 on the Mondays following the Czech Republic and Austrian Grands Prix.
Moto2 and Moto3 Testing Plans
The intermediate and lightweight classes also have confirmed test dates. The pre‑season tests have been split by category at Portimão in Portugal, with Moto3 testing on February 9 and 10, followed by Moto2 on February 11 and 12.

The two classes continue their preparation at the Circuito de Jerez‑Angel Nieto, where Moto3 will test on February 14 and 15 and Moto2 will test on February 16 and 17.
During the season, Moto3 has a scheduled test on the Tuesday after the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, while Moto2’s in‑season test is set for the Tuesday after the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona.
With these dates now confirmed, teams and riders can finalize their preparation and development programmes leading into the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.
