MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The NBA postponed Sunday games in Memphis and Milwaukee due to a powerful winter storm creating unsafe travel conditions across much of the United States.
The Dallas Mavericks attempted twice to fly to Milwaukee for their matchup against the Bucks on Sunday night, but poor conditions prevented travel. The postponement was announced just hours before tipoff, and food prepared for the game was donated to local shelters in Milwaukee.

Additionally, the league adjusted the start times for two Monday games: the Philadelphia 76ers at Charlotte Hornets will now tip off at 3 p.m. ET instead of 7 p.m., while the Indiana Pacers at Atlanta Hawks will begin at 1:30 p.m. instead of 7:30 p.m.
The Memphis area experienced a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting early Saturday and continuing into Sunday morning. To the south and east of the city, ice accumulation on power lines and trees caused widespread outages and blocked roads. Authorities advised residents to remain indoors due to refreezing from frigid temperatures and the wintry mix.
The Nuggets planned to fly out on Sunday, depending on conditions at Memphis International Airport and are scheduled to play at home against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. The Grizzlies are set to face the Houston Rockets on Monday.

In the NBA G League, the Memphis Hustle vs. Stockton Kings game in Southaven, Mississippi, originally scheduled for Monday, was postponed and rescheduled for February 19.
College basketball was also affected: No. 17 Tennessee at No. 18 Mississippi on Monday and Tulane at Memphis on Tuesday were postponed, with reschedule dates not yet announced. In men’s college basketball, Tennessee at No. 21 Georgia was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday, while Purdue Fort Wayne vs. IU Indianapolis and Southern Illinois vs. Evansville Sunday games were postponed with no makeup dates set.
These schedule changes follow numerous adjustments earlier in the week ahead of the storm.
Separately, the NBA postponed Saturday’s game between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves to prioritise the safety of the Minneapolis community following the fatal shooting of a man by a federal officer less than two miles from the Timberwolves’ arena.
