KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 2 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah clinched their seventh World Tour title after being crowned Indonesia Masters champions without having to step onto court.
The Malaysian pair were due to face Japan's newly formed duo Arisa Igarashi-Miyu Takahashi in Sunday's final, but were awarded a walkover after Takahashi was sidelined by a fever.
Despite the anticlimactic ending, the title provided sweet redemption for Pearly-Thinaah, who finished runners-up at last year's Indonesia Masters after losing to South Korea's Kim Hye Jeong-Kong Hee Yong.
The victory marked their fifth Super 500 crown, following triumphs at the Hong Kong Open in 2024 and the Thailand Open, Arctic Open and Kumamoto Masters in 2025.
They are also former champions at the Swiss Open (Super 300) in 2021 and the French Open (Super 750) in 2022.
With silverware secured early in the season, Pearly-Thinaah will now be eyeing an even stronger World Tour campaign, hoping to better last year's return of three titles from six finals.
