Quang Duong Suffers Injury, Misses Highly Anticipated Finals at VTV AO Smith Pickleball Open 2025

The VTV AO Smith Pickleball Open 2025 at Da Nang in Vietnam had a somewhat anti-climactic ending as the much-anticipated Men’s Open Doubles Final between brothers Quang Duong and Bao Duong against rising Vietnamese stars Trương Vinh Hiển and Đỗ Minh Quân did not push through.
Said Finals would have been an explosive ending to an otherwise successful staging of the VTV AO Smith Pickleball Open 2025. But it did not take place as Quang Duong sprained his ankle in the semifinals, leaving him in no condition to go for the title with his little brother. As a result, Hiển and Quân were awarded the championship by default.
Despite Quang Duong’s unfortunate injury, it was business as usual during Championship Sunday, with Sĩ Bội Ngọc emerging as one of the stars at Da Nang after winning the Mixed Doubles Open title with partner Nguyễn Văn Phương. With her spectacular showing throughout the tournament, Ngọc was also voted the Most Valuable Player and received a VNĐ20 million (USD $840) bonus.

- Hùng Dũng and Đăng Quang won gold in the Men’s Doubles for the 35+ category.
- Tiến Thịnh and Văn Phúc won gold in the Men’s Doubles under-35 category.
- Duo Phùng Viết Nam and Lê Bách Hợp won gold in the Celebrity category.
The winners shared the more than VNĐ1 billion ($38,000) prize pool.
