Raul Fernandez has opened the 2026 MotoGP season in encouraging form, but the Spanish rider still faces uncertainty about his long term future in the premier class.
The Trackhouse Aprilia rider is entering an important phase of his career as the MotoGP rider market begins to take shape. Despite his improving performances, Fernandez currently does not have a confirmed offer for his next contract, meaning his results this season could play a key role in determining where he rides in the future.
Fernandez insists he is staying calm about the situation and focusing on his performance rather than worrying about negotiations behind the scenes.
He explained that his agent handles discussions about his future while he concentrates on delivering the best results possible on track. The 24 year old said this approach has helped him stay focused after the challenges he experienced earlier in his MotoGP career.

Since joining the Trackhouse team, Fernandez has found the stability he previously lacked during difficult spells with other teams. Earlier in his MotoGP journey, he endured a tough rookie season with Tech3 KTM before moving to RNF Aprilia, where off track issues within the team added further uncertainty.
Now in his third season within the Trackhouse project, Fernandez believes the more settled environment is allowing him to show the level of performance that made him one of the most highly regarded young riders in the paddock.
However, securing a seat beyond his current deal may not be straightforward. The MotoGP grid is crowded with Spanish riders, and championship promoters have been pushing for greater international diversity among competitors. This could make opportunities more limited for Fernandez despite his talent.
At the same time, several key teams already appear to have their future lineups taking shape. Potential options at factory teams such as Aprilia, Yamaha, Honda and Ducati affiliated squads could be restricted depending on how ongoing negotiations across the paddock unfold.
For Fernandez, the strategy is simple. Continue delivering strong performances and let the results speak for themselves.
If he can maintain the momentum he has shown recently, the Spaniard hopes it will be enough to secure the next chapter of his MotoGP career.
