Aryna Sabalenka has reinforced her reputation as one of tennis’ most dominant and outspoken champions, unveiling a new personal mantra, “pressure is power,” as she continues to stay in the spotlight despite being sidelined from the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix due to injury.
The world No. 1 features in a new Wilson campaign promoting the Blade v10 racquet, where the slogan reflects her competitive identity on court. Known for her aggressive playing style, Sabalenka has leaned into the idea that high-pressure moments often bring out her best performances.
Her 2026 season has already reflected that mindset. After falling short in the Australian Open final against Elena Rybakina, she responded strongly by winning both Indian Wells and the Miami Open, completing the Sunshine Double. She also reversed her earlier defeat to Rybakina with a commanding straight-sets victory, underlining her ability to respond under pressure.
Away from competition, Sabalenka also opened up in an in-depth interview with Esquire, offering insight into her personality and mental approach. She spoke candidly about growth, mistakes and the importance of emotional balance throughout a demanding career.
Reflecting on past experiences, including a tense moment following a French Open loss to Coco Gauff, Sabalenka acknowledged that she has learned to handle defeats with greater perspective. She said giving herself time after tough matches before speaking publicly has helped her manage emotions more effectively.
She also addressed the importance of mental health and processing grief, referencing the loss of her father in 2019. Sabalenka stressed that confronting emotions directly is essential, saying that suppressing them can have long-term consequences.
Her openness, combined with her on-court success, continues to strengthen her profile as one of the sport’s most compelling figures, blending raw competitiveness with increasing emotional awareness.
