Sarawak’s women’s doubles pair Genevie Lim Tsin Yen and Wafa Shahmina Rahman have been given a major career boost after being selected by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to represent the country in two upcoming international junior tournaments in Europe.
The duo, who recently finished as runners-up at the Petronas National Under-21 Badminton Championships in Ipoh, Perak, will compete in the Yonex Dutch Junior International from February 25 to March 1 in the Netherlands, followed by the Yonex German Junior from March 4 to 8. Both tournaments will see them take part in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles events, with all expenses fully covered by BAM.
As part of their preparation, Genevie and Wafa will report to the Akademi Badminton Malaysia on February 15 for centralised training before their departure to Europe.

“Their development is encouraging and will inspire other Sarawak players to follow in their footsteps. This also reflects their potential to progress further, and I hope they can enhance their skills through more structured and professional training under BAM,” he told new sites. He added that exposure to international tournaments will be invaluable in shaping them into stronger players.
SBA has pledged continued support to help Genevie and Wafa reach their full potential, with the hope that they will represent Malaysia at the senior level in the near future.
