The Sarawak Chinese Association will host the TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 from 28–29 March, inviting youth aged 10–18 to compete in a high-level tournament that combines sports with cultural exchange.
The Sarawak Chinese Association (SCA), in partnership with 22 ethnic associations, will host the TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 from 28 to 29 March at the Paragon Pickleball Sports Centre in Sarawak. The event will serve as the curtain-raiser for the Taste of Borneo Cultural Carnival (TOBC) 4.0, combining sports with cultural exchange.
“It is more than just a competition; it is a professionally organised, high-impact initiative designed to empower youth, strengthen unity in diversity, and reinforce Sarawak’s position as a premier destination for sports, youth development, and cultural tourism,” said SCA President Harry Lee.
The championship aims to encourage youth participation in high-level sports, with students aged 10 to 18 invited to compete. Participants will earn points for their Assessment of Physical, Sports, and Co-curricular Activities (PAJSK), which contribute to their School-Based Assessment (PBS), as the tournament is sanctioned by the Miri District Education Office.
Lee noted that the championship aligns with the SCA’s vision of promoting social cohesion and multicultural friendship, in line with Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. The event also seeks to foster interaction among Sarawak’s diverse communities and participants from neighboring regions such as Sabah, Brunei, and Indonesia, while promoting healthy lifestyles and boosting tourism across Borneo.
The TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 is officially sanctioned by the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurial Development, the Malaysia Pickleball Association, Sarawak Pickleball Association, and Miri Pickleball Association.
