Mumbai: One of the earliest selections for the Hyderabad Superstars, Seone Mendez has now completed an unbeaten run in the league stage of the World Pickleball League, maintaining a perfect record throughout the competition.
Against Bengaluru Jawans’ Katerina Stewart, Seone once again underlined her dominance, continuing to set the tone in the women’s singles category this season.
“The WPBL league has been an incredible experience so far. Staying undefeated through the league stage has been really rewarding and a testament to the preparation and consistency I’ve been focused on bringing each match. I’ve put a lot of emphasis on staying sharp physically and mentally, treating every match with the same level of intensity regardless of the opponent. Most importantly, being part of the Hyderabad Superstars has made the journey even more special — the energy, support, and professionalism around the group has been amazing,” said Seone Mendez of Hyderabad Superstars.
Unbeaten Run Sets Mendez Apart
Tipped as one of the standout players before the league began, Seone has delivered by becoming the only competitor to remain unbeaten across all six league matches. Her strong groundstrokes and impressive court coverage have played a major role in her commanding performances, as she consistently controlled games without appearing under pressure. In most of her matches, she held a firm lead right from the opening stages.
Her smooth transition from tennis to pickleball has been helped by a solid foundation in the sport, allowing her to rise quickly through the international rankings over the past six to eight months. With expectations that she could finish the year among the top-ranked players in the world, Seone has also been a crucial factor in Hyderabad Superstars climbing into the top four on the league leaderboard.
Hyderabad Superstars currently sit fourth in the standings, with just two matches left in the league stage.
Hyderabad Superstars Still in Finals Contention
The Superstars made an early statement by winning their first two games in a row, but have since been edged out in several extremely close contests. Despite those narrow losses, the team remains firmly in the race for a place in the finals.
The Hyderabad Superstars squad features several international stars including Marcello Jardim, Talia Saunders, Kaitlynn Hart, Pep Canyadell, Lauren Mercado, and Louis Laville, along with Indian standout Mayur Patil, all playing alongside Seone Mendez.
