There’s no denying that pickleball’s footprint in the Philippines is growing continuously and expone

One of the Philippines premier companies, SM Supermall has further expanded its pickleball presence with the addition of permament pickleball courts at SM Center Shaw and SM Center Muntinlupa. This development was made possible through the SM Sports and Lifestyle Center (SLC) and further strengthens the company’s commitment to the sport. With these additions, SM closed 2025 with 61 pickleball locations nationwide, including 37 permanent courts—the largest network of its kind among mall operators in the country.

The push is anchored by SM Active Hub, which is SM Supermalls’ flagship sports initiative specifically designed to make quality, accessible play part of everyday life. For SM, pickleball’s appeal lies in its inclusivity as it’s easy to learn, is social by nature, and is suitable for both casual players and serious competitors.

“Closing 2025 with our largest pickleball footprint shows that sports is no longer just an interest—it’s becoming a lifestyle for our customers,” said Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing of SM Supermalls .

Developed with Paloo, the SM Supermalls’ new facilities feature three outdoor courts at SM Center Shaw and four indoor courts at SM Center Muntinlupa. These facilities, like other SM-located pickleball venues, are designed to cater players of all levels at accessible rates.

But beyond permanent venues, SM also operates 24 semi-permanent courts across the country to meet rising pickleball court demand. That demand, of course, is showing no signs of slowing with courts fully booked through the end of 2025. This is the reason SM Supermalls is aiming to open close to 80 more courts by 2026.

SM Active Hub has also become a hub for pickleball culture—hosting clinics, creative events like Glow Ball, and major competitions such as the SM Pickleball Super Series. Its Pickleball Power Tour with world-ranked pro Lauren Mercado proved especially popular, prompting a second run in early 2026.

Needless to say, the message is clear for SM Supermalls: As long as Filipinos keep playing, pickleball will always have a home in its malls.
