Over the past week, Pakistan made history four times—all in the 2025 Pickleball World Cup held from 27 October to 2 November 2025 at Fort Lauderdale in California.
First, the South Asian nation made history by sending its first-ever contingent to the Pickleball World Cup. The history-making squad was led by Maroon Ahmad (Team Manager), Ibrahim Gul (Strategic Advisor), Usama Khalid (Coach), and Malik Ali Haider (Captain). Others who represented Team Pakistan in the prestigious event were Fatima Aziz, Humaira Zafar, Komal Safdar, Atif Iqbal, Faraz Choudry, Muhammad Luqman, Asim Bashir Bhatti, Dr Aneel Naeen, and Zeeshan Raza.

The Pakistani contingent made the most out of their miles-long trip to Florida, showing out in front of the world stage and proving that Pakistan knows its pickleball, too. In fact, they have the medals to prove it!
Early in the tournament, Team Pakistan made history again after Haroon Ahmad and Zeeshan Raza teamed up to nab a bronze medal in Men’s Doubles. Naturally, the Pakistan Pickleball Federation was stoked, taking to social media to tell the world how “incredibly proud” the federation is of the pair’s achievement, which only “solidifies Team Pakistan’s presence in the global arena.”
Team Pakistan didn’t stop there. The history-making squad added another medal to their haul on the fourth day of the 2025 Pickleball World Cup, with Fatima Aziz and Dr Aneel Naeen (yes, a doctor playing pickleball!) partnering to give Pakistan a silver medal in Women’s Doubles.

A bronze and a silver to cap off Pakistan’s historic participation in the 2025 Pickleball World Cup would’ve been enough to describe Team Pakistan’s foray to Florida as a resounding success.
But Komal Safdar saved the best for last, dishing out an inspiring and incredible performance to give Pakistan its third medal in the tournament: a gold medal, this time in Women’s Singles. Safdar, incidentally, is a medical resident and is on her way to following in the footsteps of her compatriot and fellow Pickleball World Cup medallist Dr Naeen.
Indeed, Team Pakistan made history again and again and again in the 2025 Pickleball World Cup. And they’re only just beginning.
