World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has announced her engagement to entrepreneur Georgios Frangulis after a romantic proposal in Indian Wells, adding a personal milestone to her successful run on the tennis circuit.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has added a new milestone to her life off the court after announcing her engagement to partner Georgios Frangulis ahead of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

The romantic proposal took place during a dinner on Tuesday night and was revealed through a joint Instagram video shared by the couple. The setting featured a sea of pink flowers and numerous candles, creating a memorable backdrop for the moment.

Sabalenka appeared surprised during the proposal and joked that she had “no idea” it was coming, while Frangulis reassured her that she looked stunning.

The couple then posted a video on Instagram captioned, “You & me, forever ♾️ 3.3.26 💍🤍,” marking the date of their engagement. The announcement quickly drew congratulatory messages from several tennis stars including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton, Caroline Wozniacki, Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova.

Sabalenka publicly confirmed her relationship with Frangulis in 2024. The 37 year old Brazilian entrepreneur is the founder of the global acai brand Oakberry. The couple first met at a Formula One race and have been frequently seen supporting each other at major events since.

Frangulis has been present for several of Sabalenka’s key moments on tour. After winning the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome, the Belarusian blew a kiss toward him in celebration. The pair also shared a celebratory moment following her successful US Open title defense last year at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The engagement follows months of playful remarks from Sabalenka about the possibility of taking their relationship to the next stage. After defeating Marta Kostyuk at the Brisbane International in January, she jokingly hinted at the idea during her victory speech.

“Thank you to my boyfriend… Hopefully soon I can call you something else, right?” she said at the time, drawing laughter from the crowd as Frangulis watched from the stands.

Now, with a diamond ring on her finger, Sabalenka begins a new chapter in her personal life as she prepares to compete in Indian Wells.
