KUALA LUMPUR: Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia's wait for a match win continued after he exited in the first round of the India Open today.

The world No. 144 independent shuttler lost 21-13, 18-21, 21-18 to Denmark's world No. 27 Rasmus Gemke 21-13, 18-21, 21-18 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi, signalling his sixth straight first-round exit.

Zii Jia has not advanced beyond the opening round of a World Tour event since March last year, when he reached the quarter-finals at the Orleans Masters.

The defeat also means Zii Jia remains winless against Gemke, having now lost all five of their meetings.
