Lee Zii Jia says he will share his experience with Malaysia’s younger singles players to help ease pressure as the team prepares for the Thomas Cup challenge.

Lee Zii Jia has pledged to support Malaysia’s younger men’s singles players by sharing his experience, as the national team prepares for the upcoming Thomas Cup campaign in Denmark.

The independent world No. 83 said he understands the pressure placed on Malaysia’s first and second singles players, particularly with expectations to end the country’s long title drought. Instead of adding to the burden, he wants to help ease it by offering advice and guidance whenever needed.

Zii Jia noted that players such as Leong Jun Hao and Justin Hoh already have their own coaches, but he is willing to step in as an additional source of support based on his own international experience. He stressed that teamwork and shared responsibility will be key to Malaysia’s chances in the tournament.

The Olympic bronze medallist also highlighted that every player in the squad has an important role, regardless of ranking or position in the lineup. He is expected to feature as the third singles, where his focus will be on contributing points when called upon.

Zii Jia, who has previously played both leading and supporting roles in Malaysia’s Thomas Cup campaigns, said expectations should be shared across the team rather than placed on individual shoulders. He believes this approach will allow the players to perform more freely under pressure.

Malaysia will head into the tournament in Horsens with hopes of making a strong run, and Zii Jia’s presence is seen as both a stabilising factor and an added source of experience for the younger shuttlers as they prepare for high-pressure matches.
