KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open.
KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open.
World No. 2 Aaron-Wooi Yik bettered their performance from last year's Malaysia Open by defeating China's Chen Xu Jun-Liu Yang 21-14, 14-21, 21-14 in the second round in front of a boisterous home crowd at Axiata Arena today.
Last year, Aaron-Wooi Yik's campaign ended in the second round to Taiwan's Lee Fang Chih-Lee Fang Jen.
They will meet either South Korea's Kang Min Hyuk-Ki Dong Ju or Indonesia's Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in the next round.
World No. 5 Wei Chong-Kai Wun defeated Japan's world No. 26 Hiroki Midorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita 21-9, 21-15.
They are expected to meet South Korea's world No. 1 Kim Won Ho-Sea Seung Jae in the next round.
