The MotoGP paddock is abuzz following Pedro Acosta’s admission that partnering Marc Marquez would be a dream scenario, fuelling talk of a potential blockbuster lineup in the coming years.
Acosta, widely regarded as one of the sport’s brightest young talents, did not hide his admiration for the eight-time world champion. The Spaniard said the opportunity to share a garage with Marquez would be special, highlighting both the learning potential and the competitive edge such a pairing could bring.
The idea of the two racing together was first floated by Kevin Schwantz, but Acosta’s public endorsement has added weight to the possibility. His comments reflect both respect for Marquez’s achievements and a clear ambition to measure himself against the very best.
At the same time, Acosta’s long-term future appears increasingly tied to Ducati. Reports suggest he is set to join the factory team in 2027, aligning with the introduction of new 850cc regulations. The move is expected to come at the expense of Francesco Bagnaia, although no official confirmation has been made due to ongoing commercial negotiations surrounding the sport’s next cycle.

Despite the speculation, Acosta remains under contract with KTM, the team that has supported his rise through the ranks.
The hype surrounding Acosta is further reinforced by Marquez himself, who recently described the youngster as a standout talent and a future benchmark for the next generation. He also expressed hope that they will battle each other regularly in the years ahead, underlining the expectation that Acosta will play a major role in shaping a new era of MotoGP.
On track, Acosta is already delivering. A strong start to the 2026 season has placed him third in the standings ahead of the race in Jerez. He trails only the Aprilia pairing of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin, while outperforming several established Ducati riders, including Fabio Di Giannantonio and even Marquez.
With both his current form and future prospects aligning, Acosta is quickly establishing himself as a central figure in MotoGP’s next chapter, whether alongside Marquez or as his main rival.
