Aprilia Racing is putting its full support behind Marco Bezzecchi, trusting the 27-year-old Italian’s aggressive approach to racing. Despite a career marked by thrilling victories and occasional costly crashes, CEO Massimo Rivola believes Bezzecchi thrives under support rather than restraint. Rivola praises the rider’s intelligence and self-awareness, saying he fully acknowledges his mistakes and does not need extra pressure to reach his potential.
Bezzecchi has proven he can dominate races, with wins at Portimao, Valencia, and the recent Thailand Grand Prix. His ability to recover from setbacks, such as the sprint race crash in Buriram, demonstrates his mental resilience. Yet, his high-risk style has sometimes led to crucial errors, including last year’s crash in Indonesia while battling Marc Marquez and a lost early lead in Buriram. These moments highlight the delicate balance between brilliance and mistakes.
Aprilia’s competitiveness now extends beyond Bezzecchi. The factory team has strengthened its MotoGP lineup with Raul Fernandez, Jorge Martin, and Ai Ogura, forming a deeper, more balanced squad capable of challenging Ducati. Fernandez showcased a late-season surge last year, including a win at the Australian GP. Martin returned strong after two winter surgeries, and Ogura impressed with a fifth-place finish in Thailand. Rivola emphasized that all riders compete on identical bikes with only minor personal adjustments, ensuring fair equipment for every team member.
With a united front and fine-tuned machinery, Aprilia Racing is prepared to leverage Bezzecchi’s fearless style alongside the team’s growing depth. This approach positions the team to seriously contend for championship glory in the upcoming MotoGP season.
