Former MotoGP front-runner Dani Pedrosa has hinted that Ducati has secured a significant rider signing for the 2027 season, adding fuel to growing speculation around the next chapter of the sport’s rider market.
Pedrosa, who works as a test and development rider for the Red Bull KTM team, made the comments after the Sepang test in Malaysia, where much of the paddock’s attention is focused on upcoming rider agreements. Asked about moves in the 2027 market, Pedrosa said Ducati has “made a good move,” a line that has prompted intense speculation about who the Italian manufacturer might have signed.
The MotoGP rider market has already seen several potential changes this season, with contracts due to expire at the end of 2026 and teams racing to lock in their line-ups well before the new season begins. Reports have linked a number of high-profile riders with new teams, suggesting a dramatic reshuffle could take place before next year’s season opener.

One persistent rumour is that Pedro Acosta could join Ducati’s factory squad for 2027 to ride alongside reigning world champion Marc Márquez. Although neither Ducati nor Acosta has publicly confirmed such a deal, Italian and Spanish outlets have pointed to strong interest and ongoing negotiations.
Pedrosa admitted that the 2027 rider market is moving faster than expected, with many negotiations happening earlier than usual and line-ups taking shape before teams complete their 2026 testing programmes. His comments have heightened attention on Ducati’s strategy ahead of a season that will also introduce major engine and technical regulation changes.
The coming weeks are likely to bring more clarity on rider contracts and formal announcements, as teams seek certainty before the grid resumes competitive action.
