The MotoGP paddock is increasingly focused on the physical condition of Marc Marquez, after former rival Andrea Dovizioso voiced concerns that the eight-time world champion may be facing deeper issues than expected.
Speaking after the United States Grand Prix, Dovizioso offered a candid assessment of Marquez’s fitness, suggesting the situation could be more serious than what has been publicly communicated. Known for his resilience, Marquez has rarely complained about injuries, which Dovizioso believes may be masking the full extent of the problem.
The concern stems from the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix, where Marquez suffered a significant right shoulder injury following an incident involving Marco Bezzecchi. Although Ducati has indicated that recovery is progressing, Dovizioso remains unconvinced, pointing to visible limitations in Marquez’s riding.
Dovizioso’s perspective carries weight. The Italian finished runner-up to Marquez for three consecutive seasons from 2017 to 2019, during one of MotoGP’s most competitive periods. Now a test rider for Yamaha, working alongside riders such as Fabio Quartararo, he continues to closely observe developments within the paddock.
