Honda’s MotoGP team manager Alberto Puig has outlined the team’s goal for the 2026 season, saying the factory outfit wants to be competitive enough to challenge for race wins as soon as possible after visible improvements in the winter testing period. Puig noted that Honda’s RC213V has shown positive signs as preparations ramp up ahead of the championship launch.
Speaking ahead of the season, Puig said it is too early to predict exact results but winning races remains the team’s focus. He acknowledged that teams are talking to multiple riders for the 2027 season, and that Honda is keeping its options open while continuing to work with current riders such as Joan Mir and Luca Marini.
Puig’s remarks reflect Honda’s renewed confidence after official pre-season testing where the team recorded competitive times and collected useful data. The improvements have raised expectations within the paddock that Honda may bridge the performance gap to its rivals this year.
Despite the positive signals, Puig emphasised that the team must remain patient, as full competitiveness will require consistent performance across the season. Discussions about future rider line-ups, including possible moves involving other big names on the grid, remain ongoing but no decisions have yet been finalised.
With the 2026 season about to begin, Honda’s clear message is focused on building momentum, maintaining progress, and pushing toward race victories as the team looks to fully re-establish itself at the front of MotoGP competition.
