The 47th Suzuka 8 Hours is set to deliver another high-profile showdown, with MotoGP stars Jack Miller and Johann Zarco returning to Japan’s legendary endurance race, joining top riders from across WorldSBK and endurance racing.
The Suzuka 8 Hours remains one of motorsport’s toughest challenges, combining outright speed with consistency, strategy, and endurance over eight demanding hours. This year’s edition brings added attention with a strong mix of Grand Prix and Superbike talent, setting up a competitive battle between factory teams Yamaha and Honda.
Jack Miller returns with the factory Yamaha squad after finishing second last year. He will once again team up with Andrea Locatelli and veteran Katsuyuki Nakasuga on the #21 Yamaha R1. Last season’s result, combined with a costly crash during the Top 10 Trial, has strengthened Miller’s motivation heading into this year’s race. Yamaha’s target is clear: secure pole position and go one step further to claim victory, while also aiming to give Nakasuga a fitting result in what is expected to be his final Suzuka appearance.
On the other side of the pit lane, Johann Zarco lines up with Honda HRC as the team targets a third straight Suzuka victory. Honda has dominated the event in recent years, and this year’s rider lineup reinforces their status as favourites. Zarco will partner with seven-time Suzuka winner Takumi Takahashi and WorldSBK champion Jonathan Rea, forming one of the strongest endurance line-ups on the grid.
Rea’s participation adds further experience and depth, as he returns to Honda machinery in a test role following his retirement from full-time WorldSBK racing. Combined with Takahashi’s unmatched Suzuka record and Zarco’s MotoGP speed, Honda enters the race with a highly experienced and well-balanced trio.
The Suzuka 8 Hours continues to stand out as more than just an endurance race. It is a test of adaptability, teamwork, and machine reliability under extreme pressure. With factory pride on the line and some of the world’s best riders involved, this year’s event promises another intense and closely fought battle from start to finish.
