Monster Energy Yamaha has revealed its 2026 MotoGP livery, combining the team’s signature black with Yamaha blue and new white accents. The design also features more blue around the front fairing and a visually distinct extended exhaust at the rear. Minor changes to the bike’s shape, including updated front wings, give the machine a slightly refreshed appearance.
Beneath the surface, the biggest change is Yamaha’s switch to a V4 engine for 2026, a major departure from the inline-four engines the manufacturer has used throughout the four-stroke era. While immediate performance gains may be limited this year, the new engine represents a long-term strategy for Yamaha.
The V4 engine is also central to Yamaha’s plan to retain Fabio Quartararo. The French rider joined the MotoGP grid in 2019 with the Petronas SRT team and moved to Yamaha’s factory squad in 2021. Although he won the world championship in 2021, Quartararo has struggled to replicate that success, largely due to the limitations of the YZR-M1. The 2026 V4 may not immediately return him to the top, but it could provide confidence that Yamaha is on the right track.
Check out the team presentation highlight:
Alex Rins will enter his third season with Yamaha in 2026, aiming to find more speed after struggling through 2024 and 2025, compounded by the lingering effects of a broken leg sustained at Mugello in 2023.
Also in Jakarta for the team’s presentation was Red Bull-backed Pramac Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlioglu. Although not on stage, the three-time World Superbike champion was in the audience, and 2026 could provide him an opportunity to prove himself for a future factory ride in 2027.
Yamaha’s 2026 package combines visual updates, technical evolution, and strategic planning around its riders as the team seeks to regain competitiveness and secure its long-term lineup.
