Jorge Martin believes the current MotoGP break could play a key role in improving his performance, even as it temporarily halts Aprilia’s strong start to the 2026 season.
Aprilia has been one of the standout teams in the opening rounds, putting pressure on rivals early in the championship. However, a month-long gap between races, caused by the postponement of the Qatar Grand Prix, has shifted the momentum across the grid.
While the break may allow competitors like Ducati to regroup, Martin sees it as a valuable opportunity to recover physically following surgery during the off-season. The Spaniard admitted he has been riding close to his physical limit and needs time to reset.
Martin explained that rest often helps him return stronger, allowing him to push beyond previous limits once fully recovered. He noted that managing his energy has been crucial, especially during demanding race weekends.
Despite not being at full fitness, Martin delivered an impressive performance at the Americas Grand Prix. He secured a Sprint race victory with a decisive late move and followed it up with a second-place finish in the main race, underlining both his competitiveness and resilience.
With time now on his side, Martin is aiming to return in better physical condition for the next round. While the break may disrupt Aprilia’s rhythm, it could ultimately strengthen one of their key title contenders as the season progresses.
