MotoGP remains confident that a new commercial agreement for the 2027-2031 cycle will be secured, despite negotiations with manufacturers stretching close to a year.
MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said ongoing discussions are part of building a stronger long-term structure for the championship rather than a sign of uncertainty. According to Ezpeleta, the proposed agreements involve significant changes compared to previous cycles, making detailed negotiations necessary.
He stressed that there is no immediate deadline pressure and believes the continued involvement from manufacturers reflects a shared commitment to the future of the series.
At the same time, MotoGP is entering a new phase following its acquisition by Liberty Media, the company best known for transforming Formula One World Championship into a global entertainment powerhouse.
Ezpeleta revealed that Liberty Media’s arrival has already generated strong interest from investors and potential new teams. Beyond financial backing, the company is expected to bring fresh ideas focused on expanding MotoGP’s international audience and improving fan engagement.

One of the first major initiatives under the new ownership will be the introduction of MotoGP Fan Fest events. The concept will debut in Barcelona ahead of the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix, bringing riders, activities and entertainment directly into city centers to attract more fans.
MotoGP also appears set to make strategic adjustments to its race calendar in the coming years. With agreements limiting the season to 22 races, Ezpeleta admitted it will become increasingly difficult for Spain to continue hosting four Grands Prix.
The championship is expected to focus more heavily on expanding into international markets as it balances tradition with global growth opportunities.
Meanwhile, the venue for the 2027 season opener has yet to be confirmed, despite speculation surrounding Thailand. MotoGP management is keeping its options open as it continues shaping the next chapter of the championship.
