Brazil’s Diogo Moreira has revealed that valuable guidance from six‑time MotoGP world champion Marc Márquez played a significant role in his preparation ahead of his rookie season in the premier class.
Moreira, a 21‑year‑old riding for LCR Honda, stepped up to MotoGP in 2026 after winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2025 and has quickly attracted attention as one of the sport’s most promising young talents.
The Brazilian said he trained and spoke frequently with Márquez before his first race, benefiting from the Spanish star’s experience and insights. The veteran rider shared tips on handling the more powerful and complex MotoGP machinery, helping Moreira improve his confidence and understanding of the bike’s electronics, braking systems and aerodynamics.
Moreira acknowledged that learning from Márquez, who has won an extraordinary number of MotoGP titles, was a dream come true and something he absorbed fully during training sessions.
In his MotoGP debut at the Thai Grand Prix in Buriram, Moreira finished 13th and scored his first premier class championship points, a solid outcome for a rookie and a sign of the progress he has made since moving up from Moto2.
The weekend also included a lighter moment when Moreira revealed he competed using gloves borrowed from Márquez after discovering his own pair did not fit. The young rider joked that the borrowed gear might have helped him gain a few extra seconds on track.
Despite the encouraging result, Moreira says he knows there is still much to learn as he adapts to the demanding MotoGP environment and continues developing his race craft and technical understanding.
The presence of experienced riders like Márquez in the paddock and training setting is helping Moreira adjust to life at the top level. With ongoing guidance and track time, the Brazilian hopes to build on his early progress and become one of MotoGP’s future stars.
