Malaysian men’s doubles player Man Wei Chong is heading into the upcoming Malaysia Masters with renewed motivation after a major personal milestone, as he recently got married and now shifts his focus back to competitive badminton.
Wei Chong tied the knot with his partner Ai Ting in a ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, marking an important moment in his personal life. The celebration was attended by several national teammates and figures from the Malaysian badminton scene, reflecting strong unity within the squad.
Among those present were top Malaysian shuttlers including Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, Choong Hon Jian, Yap Roy King, Pearly Tan, and M. Thinaah, while national coaching director Rexy Mainaky also offered his congratulations.
The timing of the wedding comes shortly after Wei Chong’s return from international duty at the Thomas Cup in Denmark, where his performance was affected by a lingering knee issue. Despite the setback, the 25-year-old now appears focused on resetting and building momentum for the rest of the season.
Partnering Tee Kai Wun, Wei Chong is preparing to defend their Malaysia Masters title at the Axiata Arena, with the tournament scheduled from May 19 to 24. The pair will be aiming to secure their first World Tour title of the year while defending the crown they previously won on home soil.
With strong home support expected, Wei Chong will also have added motivation from family and fans as he competes in front of a local crowd. A successful title defence would not only reaffirm their status as one of Malaysia’s leading men’s doubles pairs but also mark a strong turning point in their 2026 campaign.
