MotoGP has rescheduled the Qatar Grand Prix to November, creating a demanding three-race stretch with Australia and Malaysia that could play a decisive role in the 2026 title fight.

The 2026 MotoGP calendar has undergone a significant change as the Qatar Grand Prix will now take place on November 8, instead of its original April 12 date. The decision, made in consultation with the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and Qatari promoters, positions the race in a critical late-season slot where it could directly influence the championship outcome.

This rescheduling creates an intense triple-header alongside the Australian Grand Prix and the Malaysian Grand Prix, challenging riders and teams to maintain consistency and endurance across three back-to-back races on different continents. Every point earned during this stretch will carry extra weight in the title fight.

To accommodate the new Qatar date, the final two rounds in Portugal Grand Prix and Valencian Community Grand Prix have also been pushed back by a week, with the season concluding in Valencia on November 29. Following the finale, the first post-season test of the upcoming 850cc bikes is expected to take place on December 1, providing a glimpse into the sport’s next generation.

MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta emphasized that the change prioritizes safety and well-being, reflecting ongoing regional concerns in the Middle East. Similar precautions have been taken across other top motorsports, including Formula One, highlighting the importance of participant security.

With the Qatar Grand Prix now set for the closing stages of the season, the race under the lights at Losail is poised to be one of the most decisive and thrilling moments of the 2026 MotoGP championship.
