Diogo Moreira marked his first Sunday MotoGP race with a points finish in Buriram, delivering a determined ride to secure 13th place and contribute to LCR Honda’s team standings.

Honda LCR rider Diogo Moreira secured a points finish in his first Sunday MotoGP race, crossing the line in 13th at the Buriram circuit.

Following an encouraging Sprint performance on Saturday, the Brazilian approached Sunday’s race determined to maximise his result. He made a strong start and remained in contention for points throughout the race, battling within a competitive midfield group.

“It was a good race, I’m super happy. I fought with Enea, and it was fun,” Moreira said after the race.

As the laps progressed, tyre degradation became a challenge. Moreira admitted that the drop in performance limited his ability to push further up the order, particularly in the latter stages.

“The tyre dropped off quite a lot, so I struggled a bit, but overall it was really good. At some point I was alone pushing, because after 12 laps, the tyre degradation was significant, but it was still a positive race for me,” he explained.

Despite the difficulties, Moreira maintained a clean and consistent ride to secure 13th place, earning valuable championship points for the team in his first full Sunday MotoGP outing.

“We’ve started the season with high motivation, and this is a learning process. I can’t wait to do more races, I’ve had so much fun this weekend,” he added.

The Buriram weekend proved positive overall for Moreira and his teammate Johann Zarco. The team will now turn its focus to the next round in two weeks’ time at a brand new circuit in Brazil.

The upcoming race will carry special significance for Moreira, who is set to compete in front of his home crowd for the first time in MotoGP and is eager to build on his promising start to the season.
