VR46 Racing is planning a major strategic shift for the 2027 MotoGP season, blending experienced riders with emerging talent to navigate the new 850cc era.

The VR46 Racing Team is preparing for a significant strategic shift ahead of the 2027 MotoGP season, signaling a bold new direction under the guidance of Valentino Rossi’s longtime aide, Uccio Salucci. The changes go beyond machinery; they represent a renewed team philosophy.

Salucci has outlined a clear vision for VR46’s future rider line-up: a calculated mix of experienced racers and rising talent. "One and one – one experienced and one young rider. That is my idea," Salucci told Motorsport.com. This approach aims to balance immediate performance with the long-term development of future stars, a strategy especially critical as MotoGP transitions to 850cc engines in 2027. VR46 recently renewed its partnership with Ducati despite interest from Aprilia, showing the team is committed to navigating the upcoming technical changes effectively.

Current riders Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli are under pressure to perform. Both are secured through 2026, with Di Giannantonio on a factory-spec Ducati and Morbidelli on last year’s GP25, but their 2027 prospects now hinge on results. Salucci has set a clear mandate: "Fight all races for the first five positions. Yes, always in front." Di Giannantonio will need to maintain consistency following a late-season surge, while Morbidelli seeks to rebound after a challenging period and reassert himself at the front.

VR46 continues to cultivate new talent, building on a track record of promoting riders such as Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini. Fermin Aldeguer, currently with Gresini Racing, has emerged as a potential target. Although Aldeguer has a Ducati agreement for next year, his placement within the manufacturer’s satellite roster remains undecided. VR46’s interest highlights the team’s commitment to securing top-tier youth talent.

Salucci confirmed he has "some names" in mind but emphasized that final decisions on the 2027 line-up will be made after the upcoming Qatar race. For now, the immediate focus is on pushing Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli to maximize their potential and deliver consistent results.
