Castrol Honda LCR rider Johann Zarco delivered a determined recovery ride to finish ninth in Saturday’s Sprint at the Circuit of the Americas.
After a difficult qualifying session that left him 15th on the grid, the Frenchman made an aggressive start and quickly worked his way through the field on one of the most physically demanding circuits on the calendar.
Zarco showed strong racecraft to break into the points, maintaining a solid pace despite still searching for an ideal feeling with his machine.
“I’m happy with the point. We are improving in terms of speed, but we were still missing some pace during the Sprint,” he said.
He eventually crossed the line in ninth place, securing a valuable point while also collecting important data ahead of Sunday’s race.
“As I don’t have the perfect feeling with the bike this weekend, I tried to manage the situation and avoid mistakes. We’ll try to fight for the points again tomorrow, we’ll see,” Zarco added.
