Honda LCR rider Johann Zarco finished 11th in Sunday’s MotoGP race at Buriram, collecting valuable championship points in challenging conditions.
Competing in intense heat over 26 laps, Zarco made a strong start and maintained a steady pace throughout the race. Careful tyre management proved crucial as degradation and high temperatures played a major role in shaping the outcome.
“I’m happy to finish the race and take some points, it’s a good way to start the championship,” Zarco said.
The Frenchman adopted a measured approach from the opening laps, focusing on consistency and race control rather than taking unnecessary risks. As tyre performance dropped significantly in the latter stages, his strategy allowed him to stay competitive and avoid mistakes.
“We still have many races to go, but starting the season with this level of control is positive. I tried to manage the situation from the beginning and did my best considering the huge tyre drop,” he explained.
Despite the demanding conditions, Zarco brought his bike home safely in 11th place, ensuring a solid points haul in the opening round of the season.
“I managed to bring it to a close because if I had pushed harder, I probably wouldn’t have finished. I believe in the work we’re doing, the bike is performing well, we have a good base, and we just need to adjust a few small things,” he added.
The Buriram weekend was positive overall for Zarco and teammate Diogo Moreira. The team will now reset and prepare for the next round in two weeks at a new circuit in Brazil, aiming to build on their strong start and secure more points.
