Francesco Bagnaia, the two-time MotoGP champion, is entering the 2026 season with renewed confidence and determination. Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi believes 'Pecco' has fully regained the mindset of a title contender, setting the stage for another potentially dominant campaign.
Tardozzi highlighted the Italian rider’s strong start to the year. "At the beginning of the year, when he returned from the winter break, I found a completely different Pecco, with a different mentality. Reminiscent of the 2024 version." The Ducati boss emphasized that this transformation is not just physical but a profound mental reset.

The Malaysian pre-season test provided a glimpse of Bagnaia's renewed potential. He adapted quickly to the new GP26 machine, showing a stark improvement from the struggles he faced with the GP25 in 2025. While he ended the test fifth overall, his long-run pace in sprint simulations was highly impressive, only a tenth off Alex Marquez’s best. Bagnaia also praised the GP26’s enhanced braking stability, which has restored his confidence and allowed him to push harder on track.
Tardozzi is optimistic about the season ahead, citing Bagnaia’s intelligence and focus as key factors. "Since the Valencia test, he has already regained the right mental attitude. We are very happy and confident that we have a competitive Pecco this year," he said.
While contract speculation continues, with Pedro Acosta reportedly being considered as a future factory rider, Bagnaia remains focused on his immediate challenge: a successful 2026 campaign. He has made it clear that a satellite seat is not an option, and Ducati’s priority is on securing results on the track before addressing longer-term plans.
With the GP26 now working in harmony with his riding style and a sharp mental edge, Bagnaia is poised for a season of redemption and a strong challenge for the 2026 MotoGP title.
