Nicolo Bulega’s path to MotoGP has taken a new twist, with reports suggesting the World Superbike frontrunner could step into the premier class next season even if a seat with Ducati does not materialise.
The Italian has long been viewed as a strong candidate for a future MotoGP ride, especially after joining Ducati’s development structure and becoming part of its broader 2027 technical programme. However, his manager has now indicated that a move away from Ducati is “not impossible,” keeping multiple options open as the rider market continues to shift.

Bulega’s rise through Ducati’s system has been steady. After rebuilding his career in World Supersport, he moved to WorldSBK where he quickly established himself as a title contender, finishing runner-up in consecutive seasons. His performances have also earned him MotoGP exposure, including wildcard and substitute appearances with Ducati’s premier class squad.
Despite his close ties to Ducati, the current MotoGP landscape is increasingly fluid, with factory seats and satellite roles expected to be influenced by wider rider market decisions in the coming months. This has opened the door for alternative manufacturers to consider Bulega if opportunities arise elsewhere.
His manager stressed that final decisions will depend on how the rest of the grid shapes up, particularly as top riders confirm their future plans. Only then will teams finalise remaining seats and potential partnerships.
For now, Bulega remains in a strong but uncertain position. While Ducati remains a natural pathway, the possibility of a MotoGP debut with another manufacturer is now firmly on the table as the 2027 reshuffle begins to take shape.
