KUALA LUMPUR: Women's doubles Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing's push for a top-20 ranking has suffered a setback after they were forced to pull out of the Malaysia Open and next week's India Open.

National coach Rosman Razak confirmed that Pei Kee has contracted influenza, prompting the withdrawal from the Super 1000 tournament at the Axiata Arena, which began on Tuesday.

"Pei Kee was feeling unwell yesterday and was confirmed by the doctor to have influenza," said Rosman.

"They will also miss the India Open next week."

The world No. 22 Malaysians were scheduled to face Hong Kong's world No. 13 Yeung Nga Ting-Yeung Pui Lam in the first round.

Pei Kee-Mei Xing reached a career-high world No. 18 in August, but a foot injury sustained by the former during the European leg last year saw them slip out of the top 20.

The pair are expected to return to competition at the Indonesia Masters from Jan 20-25.
