Yamaha are preparing a contract offer for Jorge Martin for the 2027 MotoGP season, but the team has made clear that confirming his full fitness and return to competitive form is a key condition before finalising any deal.

Yamaha are reportedly ready to make Jorge Martin a key signing for the 2027 MotoGP season, but the Japanese manufacturer wants assurance about his recovery before finalising a deal.

The reigning MotoGP world champion, who moved to Aprilia for 2025 after leaving Ducati, has endured a disrupted season due to multiple injuries. Martin did not participate in the recent Sepang test as he continues to recover from surgery on his scaphoid and collarbone. His absence has added uncertainty around his future with Aprilia, who have already secured Marco Bezzecchi with a new two-year contract.

Reports indicate Yamaha have identified Martin as a top target to bolster their lineup after Fabio Quartararo’s expected move to Honda. However, Yamaha are delaying a formal offer until they are confident Martin is fully fit and able to return to his championship-winning form. The team reportedly wants more than a simple medical sign-off, seeking clear proof of his physical condition and competitive readiness before committing to a contract.

This cautious approach reflects Yamaha’s broader strategy as they prepare for future regulation cycles and continued development of their MotoGP programme. The team are also monitoring other riders, including Toprak Razgatlioglu, whose performance in his first MotoGP season could open additional options.

Martin himself has so far stayed quiet on the speculation, focusing publicly on his recovery and the remainder of the 2026 season.
